Michael Tidwell
Michael is a native Houstonian and has had a passion for building and design from a young age. In fact, there really is not a memory of Mike when he was not working with his hands, building, creating, exploring with wood or any other construction materials. He started Tidwell Builders in 1977 first as J&K Construction and has been involved with all stages of building since.
Mike in on-site daily at each project, working directly with each crew and homeowner. Mike is a true craftsman with wood, solution driven and knowledgeable in just about anything construction related. If you have a vision for your home, Mike will figure out how to make it a reality.
A native Houstonian and 5th generation Texan, when Mike is not working, he enjoys riding his bike, road trips to anywhere and nowhere, watching the Astros, and wishes he fished more. He has been married to his wife Debbie for 45 years and has two daughters and three grandsons.
Jennifer Hyman
Jennifer got a later start in the industry but has enjoyed the work since 2006 when she joined Mike to build Tidwell Builders’ first Spec home. Jennifer runs the daily office operations as well as keeping the job-flow on track.
Over the years she has been an apprentice to Mike, trying to learn all she can from his years of experience. She enjoys the design process and helping owners create their dream home. Jennifer keeps the owners current with job cost and budgetary items, scheduling and timelines.
Jennifer lives in Ayrshire with her husband Brent, two teenage sons, Jake and Eli, and their dog Olive. Jennifer graduated from the University of Houston and taught elementary school for ten years prior to building. She enjoys travel and exploring, reading, exercising, and cooking and baking when not at work.
